This is our personal favorite feeder here at the farm! The Peanut Wreath Feeder is a unique and highly entertaining way to offer whole peanuts to the wild birds in your yard.
Whole peanuts are a great source of energy-rich fat that is critical for winter survival, so be sure to offer these nourishing nuts in fall and winter especially.
This wreath feeder is a 12" diameter ring of metal wire coil that holds 1 lb of whole (in shell) peanuts. Simply unhook one side of the coil from the hanging hook, fill the inside of the coil with peanuts, and rehook the end of the coil to the hanger.
Birds will cling to the wire coil and pull the peanuts out from in between the coils. This style of feeder is extremely attractive to woodland species like woodpeckers, titmice, nuthatches, and chickadees that are accustomed to clinging to vertical surfaces or even hanging upside down! This makes for extremely entertaining antics as the birds cling and crawl all over the feeder to get the peanuts.
Can also be used to offer suet nuggets or suet balls!
Species attracted include woodpeckers and flickers, chickadees, titmice, nuthatches, jays, and grackles.
